Just As We Are
Abstract
Just As We Are, is a realistic portrayal of the society and mood of the times. The work highlights various aspects of our national life, the real Nigerian, the lowly and the high ups, the haves and have-nots, the eventful, the absurd, comic and not leaving out the shameful interpreted artistically in black and white photography.
The country holds some of the richest mineral deposits, yet has remained one of the poorest owing to myriads of problems manifested in bad leadership, moral laxity, lack of direction, religious bigotry, widespread corruption and poor governance. The work is an attempt to awaken our consciousness and sensibilities to the harsh realities of our daily life with a view to seeking a reversal and to reposition the country for growth.
